Meyer Capel Law Firm seeks an experienced individual to act as Controller of the firm=s financial affairs.  Responsibilities of the position include preparation of monthly financial reports, bank reconciliations, payroll and payroll tax returns, cash and trust account management, and supervision of general ledger, accounts receivable, and accounts payable.  Public accounting and corporate income tax experience a plus.   Experience with accounting software required.  A degree in accounting and/or CPA preferred.  Salary dependent on experience.  Please send resume to the attention of Mrs. Laurel Bailie, P.O. Scope of the Position:

The Controller, under limited supervision, performs substantially all of the firm's accounting, banking/cash management, accounts payable and payroll, tax compliance functions, client billing processes, and prepares extensive monthly financial report for board of directors.

The ideal candidate will live in the Champaign-Urbana metropolitan area and be available to start in the very near future.

Core Skills:

The successful candidate will possess:

• Strong computer skills, highly proficient in Excel and Word.  Experience with Rainmaker or Sage a plus.

• Ability to perform work accurately with great attention to detail.

• Experience with law firm or other professional services firms a plus.

• Ability to work independently.

• Good communication skills and ability to interact with various levels of law firm personnel.

• High comfort level working in small office environment.

• Knowledge of corporate and partnership taxation a plus.

• High level of professionalism and confidentiality.

• Ability to monitor and negotiate vendor pricing a plus.

Summer Associates and Seasonal Associates

Meyer Capel summer associates and seasonal associates are law students who seek practical experience from employment at Meyer Capel on a part-time basis during the school year or on a full-time basis in the summer. Summer and seasonal associates at Meyer Capel receive exposure to a variety of legal projects ranging from legal research to document preparation in areas of the law as diverse as litigation and mergers and acquisitions. They work with the firm's attorneys and paralegals as they prepare for trials, hearings, mediation sessions and client meetings and, on occasion, are invited to attend court hearings and client conferences. The sophistication of Meyer Capel’s practice areas allows the firm’s summer and seasonal associates to obtain experience typically only available at law firms located in major metropolitan areas.
